Yosegi (traditional Japanese parquetry) Muku Zukuri

The origin of Yosegizaiku, traditional Japanese parquetry, dates back to approximately 200 years ago in the late Edo period. Craftsmen use various kinds of wood and glue them together to make them into seed plates of a certain thickness, forming elaborate geometric patterns, making the most of the unique colors and grain patterns of each wood. The seed plates are either shaved off thinly with a special big plane and pasted on small boxes as decorations, or directly carved and manufactured into products. The products are woodworking crafts and handmade.
